| Description: |
... a desert is full of potential and dormant life

| Lyrics: |
Kalahari Orphan
Neither the moon balanced in a hammock
of squandered time,
nor the river escaping to the sound
of continuous applause
could bring you back to me.
Days pass like a revolving room of trompe l'Oeil:
none fo the doors or windows open
and silence beats its suffocation
on fields of dusty corn. September burns.
I count magpies, syllables, glasses of wine.
I catch the night letting out its long sigh,
kiss and fold my arms around the twisted yew,
bring it offerings of seashells and sharks' teeth.
You cannot return, yet you linger -
child, my brother - don't you know?
Paintings hang, speechless in those sterile rooms,
humiliated with naked light;
seeds lie dormant in the desert's busy crematoria.
