If I am asked 'what is your poetry like?' I answer 'it's a bit like jazz'. I feel there are similarities in the freedom of expression and experimentation with different combinations of harmony and dischord.
In my life I have experimented with many forms of artistic expression: painting and all sorts of handcrafts, but it is in writing that I find the most satisfaction. I think this is because the ideas formed in the imagination have no physical limitation, whereas many other forms of art including music can be hampered by one's mind being far in advance of the capability of one's hands. Once armed with a vocabulary, the possibilities for poetic expression are only limited by one's own imaginative boundaries and it's those boundaries I want to push.
